The project for the Meredith Neighbourhood aims to develop an inclusive community focused on social and community diversity. It plans to create a village core to the east of the highway to strengthen the future institutional hub. At the center of this proposal, a gathering place will be set up to encourage social interactions. Various types of buildings will be integrated to avoid monotony and give the impression of a village evolving gradually. The architecture was designed sustainably, using wooden materials to promote ecological and energy transition. Finally, a harmonious integration of the new development with the existing neighborhood and the typical architectural elements of Old Chelsea was ensured. Fab Structures was hired to take on the pre-fabrication of the structural walls and floors. The project's level of performances needed to be 30% above code and leverage biosourced materials for insulation.
